I don't know that I really ought to be posting about this....
Abortion provider George Tiller was murdered while ushering for his church yesterday morning. Instead of analyzing the possible outcomes for the controversy because of this, I'd like to propose a solution to the problem.
As I see it, there are two sides - those who think women should have the right to choose (pro-choice) and those who think that abortions should never happen (pro-life). So here's the fix to make everyone happy:
Make (consensual) abortions completely legal. This will make the pro-choice crowd happy.
Convince every girl that she should never have an abortion. This will make the pro-life crowd happy. So now every woman can choose whether or not to have an abortion, and every woman will choose to not have an abortion. Both sides of the argument have what they want, and both think they've pulled one over on the idiots on the other side. Now everyone can sleep safely at night and argue about something else.
Too bad it will never work.

For the most part, the pro-lifers have no interest in having any interaction with anyone who would ever want an abortion. Thus they are severely limited in any attempt to convince them not to have an abortion.
You're right though that if you could pull it off, it would put an end to the conflict.
you forgot the federal money part. the eugenics crowd that started planned parenthood wants its views foisted on the rest of us, and wants us to pay. That is one huge objection.
@ANT_L - I don't see how that is relevant if there is no human who would ever want to have an abortion.
well, when you study up on the eugenics movements, you immediately become aware of a group of people who truly want to foist their views on others. Even if you convinced individuals about no abortion, these people were adamant that for the "good of society" OTHERS should get abortions, and sterilizations to limit their deviant genetic strains. It is beyond what you were saying; but that is the point. There are those who specifically wanted less black people in the world, as they were considered more deviant and therefore must have weak genes, and so it was proposed various ways for them to become sterile and not reproduce. Margaret Sanger, founder of planned parenthood was one of these people.
These people often did things in a very devious manner; the will of the patient was not important. So. that individual's choice would become irrelevant.
