I tried out the Xanga TV module. I don’t feel like reading my posts to you guys, though, so it’s not really going to turn out to be much yet. I’ll take recommendations and ideas, mainly to ignore them. But then you can feel vindicated when I ignore them.
The powers that be are trying to get a casino built near my hometown. It’s not in the town (right now), but they have to annex the land so they can approve the plan so that someone else can approve it so that the casino can actually be built. And they want to build it less than two miles from my parents’ house. My dad is highly opposed to it, just cause he thinks it will destroy his way of life. I disagree, but that’s just what the big controversy is at home.
But now I’m curious what some of the Xanga community thinks: If someone tried to put a resort casino, including hotels and golf courses, practically right next to your house, how would you feel about it?

just so you know, they have already annexed the land. they decided to do it last week.
i think i like where it’s going, but i’m not sure i’d feel the same way if it wasn’t ten miles from me. two miles away is a bit close, but that’s two miles from the complex, not the actual casino. i don’t think it’s going to be as bad as it seems.
I would be vaguely amused.
Also, regarding the xanga TV module… you should dress in a panda suite and read your homework instructions.
This way I’ll feel like you were being a rational human being when you turn down my brilliant idea.
glad you tried it out! it’s weird at first, i know, but once you get a conversation going with someone, it makes it all worth your while.
i think it depends on what kind of establishment is being built so close. golf could be okay as long as the errant balls flying from bad golfers aren’t going through your windows; casinos would probably be annoying and a hotel would be equally off-putting.
keep us up to date with this – i want to hear more!
I’d probably be opposed to it. I don’t know how much confidence I would have that it would stay open and having a large complex like that sitting vacant near my home would surely have a negative effect.
Well they are trying to put an airport, not a passenger one but a cargo one, a few km from my house so I know the feeling. They’re both intrusive and will bring a lot of noise and crowds, minus the glamour in my case with freight planes and excess damage to the environment. I’m not a big fan of change, so I wouldn’t be very happy about anything being brought in.
We live in casino land…..next to the seminole nation….the only undefeated US indian tribe….. Somehow poetic justice that they, who suffered from awful white people now benefit from….what? Rather stupid (sorry so blunt) White people.
In general, don’t like these things. Don’t raise our consciousness, attract purient interests. Improve the carnal in us….and usually, we really rather need to supress that part a bit.
I have dreamed of starting a different type of resort. Not really disney land…but like….a family country club. Entertainment could be there…but it would be interactive as well, and instructive. Wonderful athletics, sports, for all. TOgether. Parents liability waiver would allow kids access where now they cannot. Parents would be responsible –and encouraged to participate together. Art…..drama…..beauty….adventure….serentity….wow…..
